and the momentum builds...

And so the momentum builds...
Almost a month ago, a dear friend and client was critically injured in a motorcycle accident, it was then that Retro Betty and a few good friends decided to put their heads together and help out this single mother. We are now two weeks out from the Benefit, and I can't believe the generosity of the people of Denver.
As weeks have gone by, we have secured donations from all over the Denver metro area, three bands have so generously agreed to play the event for free, including Denver 's own DELTA SONICS. From product to gift certificates, there is something for everyone. A silent auction and hourly raffle of some of the best goods offered by Denver Local shops, food donated in part by Tymkoivch Meats, 42lbs of pork shoulder smoked by the boys of Carnage Crew Garage. Enjoy a sandwich, slaw and beans while listening to the music enjoying the atmosphere and biding on some great items. Thinking of the little ones, we will have free face painting, there really is nothing that can't be done here.
I am so proud of all of the people that have come together to help this young mother out, especially Rachel. A friend from previous employment, Rachel has come to the rescue of this benefit to offer her amazing graphic design skills, creating the poster, save the date and other graphic items to draw in the crowds. In now way could the event have gotten this far with out her skills, thank you Rachel-
Thank you to all of you that have supported Retro Betty in this cause, and to all that will show their support at the event...

Darla Rae- A Rockin' roll Benefit-

I think most of you are all aware of Retro Betty's commitment to the community and her steadfast involvement in charity events. Well this time Retro Betty is out- full force, organizing and hosting a benefit to raise funds for a client and dear friend.
While I was going strong preparing for a Brides big day- finishing up the bridesmaid rings, starting the best man's bow tie, I received a phone call that everyone dreads...
My bride, long time client and friend had been critically injured in a motorcycle accident. Not only had she been in a horrific accident, but a single mother of two boys was now in the ICU. Darla had to be rescued from the South Platte river after being thrown over the handle bars of her new 2013 Harley Davidson Sportster, left in critical condition she was rushed to the hospital with a punctured lung, internal bleeding, broken ribs, arm and pelvis. Grateful that she is still here alive today to tell her story- I knew that she was going to need financial help..
And that is how this whole benefit got started, a group of the most giving and talented women in the world put their heads together- never sponsoring a benefit before, took action and to date have pulled over 1k DOLLARS in donations and product to raffle and auction at the benefit! It looks to be the best party of the new year. I am overwhelmed with gratitude to all the local businesses that have donated, the people and of course to all my ladies and men out there that have put in their time and efforts.
Retro Betty will put "on hold" all designs and manufacturing until after the event, to dedicate 100% of my time to raising donations-

If you would like to donate please email Retro Betty @ retrobetty@live.com

And OF COURSE there will be Retro Betty merchandise at the benefit for raffle and auction!

Bridesmaid gifts...

At the request of the bride, I have designed three rings for her bridesmaids. Something pretty but not to large, something to connect the bridesmaids with the styling of the Bride, a small gift to show her appreciation of three of the women that will stand by her side during this special event.

In true Retro Betty style, each ring is similar to the others but is unique and different from the rest. In between delicate and couture, each ring is the perfect small size statement for each of the bridesmaids to accompany the brides flavor for vintage.

And so... the button and brooches have arrived, I have met with the bride and begun work on the head piece and bouquet. I am so excited to have found the perfect variety of pieces that give that vintage touch with a hint of blue. The head piece will feature a three piece set of brooches with silver, rhinestones and antiqued pearls.

While the bouquet will be adorned with over ONE HUNDRED button and brooches with antiqued pearls, silver, rhinestones in clear and Austrian blue tones.

Keeping with a Vintage theme, the headpiece will be designed to fit just in front of  the crown of the head, with a short nose length Audrey Hepburn inspired veil.

Busy, Busy, Busy..  designing, creating... next on the list perfect a wedding cake design and topper... then move on to the tie for the best man... it will look a little something like this....

And so a journey begins...

I have recently been asked to create multiple pieces for a wedding, the event to take place in July requires some  hunting for new vintage brooches for a brooch bouquet, a custom design for a veil and head piece, delicate and eloquent design for rings for the brides maids, two fancy custom boutonniere pins for the best man and her son, and decked out bow tie, Retro Betty style for the second son.

Honored- I am excited to be a part of this brides journey to a new life. A continued journey for Retro Betty into the bridal market, and an ongoing journey of creativity and design.

Follow as it unfolds- a tale of buttons, beauty and bestowal...
